The countdown to the 2019 Billboard Music Awards has begun, and many superstars are waiting to know the winners of this year's ceremony, which will broadcast live from the MGM in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
This year, the competition in the Latin category is tough. Anuel AA, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Ozuna and Romeo Santos were named the nominees for the Top Latin Artist category.
Numerous artists are in position to make history at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday.
Drake is vying to become the first three-time winner for top rap artist. He previously won in in 2016 and 2017.
Romeo Santos is vying to become the first three-time winner for top Latin artist. He and Shakira are the only artists who have won this award twice, in 2011 and 2012.
Florida Georgia Line is vying to become the first three-time winner for top country song. The duo is nominated this year for "Meant to Be," its record-breaking collaboration with Bebe Rexha. It won in 2014 with "Cruise" (featuring Nelly) and in 2017 with "H.O.L.Y." FGL, Brooks & Dunn and Jason Aldean have all won this category twice.
Florida Georgia Line is also vying to become the first duo or group to win twice for top country artist since the Dixie Chicks in 1999 and 2000. FGL previously won in 2015.
The Chainsmokers are vying to become the first three-time winners for top dance/electronic artist. They won in the category the last two years.
DJ Snake is vying to become the first three-time winner for top dance/electronic song. The French DJ is nominated this year for "Taki Taki," which features Selena Gomez, Ozuna and Cardi B. He previously won for "Turn Down for What" (2015), a collaboration with Lil Jon, and "Lean On" (2016), a collaboration with Major Lazer featuring MØ.
